Principal's Message

Dear Washington Preparatory High School Family and Community,

Welcome to George Washington Preparatory High School ALMA, STEAM Magnet for the 2019-2020 school year. With our partnership with Los Angeles Educational Partners (LAEP) we have themed this upcoming school year as “The Year of Fruition.”  I look forward to graduating all students of the Class of 2020.

We are now a part of the Humanizing Education for Equitable Transformation (H.E.E.T) Community of Schoools.  Our School Improvement Grant and School Incentive Funds (ACLU Settlement) support academic learning in Math, English/Language Arts, Performing Arts, Culinary Arts, Attendance and Social Emotional Learning for our English Language Learners, Standard English Learners, Foster Youth and low-income students.  Our Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA - Title 1) and our school team action plans fully supports our school's mission to ensure our students realize their truest potential. Within the classrooms of Washington Preparatory High School sit future scientists, attorneys, entertainers, and community leaders all striving to make a difference in the world. I am excited, enthused and humbled to work with dedicated faculty, staff, families and the community at-large who are dedicated to 100% of our students graduating college and career ready in the 21st Century.

This year we continue find ways to strengthen family involvement, maintain and establish relationships with partnerships such as UCLA, the Brotherhood Crusade, Exploring the Arts, Safe at Home Foundation, St. John's Wellness Clinics, Los Angeles Southwest College, churches and businesses to support the goals of 100% graduation. It takes a village to raise a child, therefore, as a family we will celebrate success, right the wrongs, and work to show how Generals lead the charge!

I look forward to a "Year of Fruition" where our mission is to ensure that each student, upon graduation, will possess the academic and social skills needed to think critically, function in a diverse society, and participate as informed responsible citizens prepared for leadership in their community, the world, and all areas of life. Please check our website (, Parent Portal and Schoology frequently to see your student's progress and upcoming activities.  Feel free to contact me via email at
